A rare and authentic poly-chrome Greco-Gandhara stucco head of a scholar, Gandhara culture, Kushan period 3rd-4th century AD from Hadda Afghanistan. Very fine looking face impression with soft arcuate mouth, straight nose and elongated eyes with heavy lids, his hair tied up and made up with a turban, with remnants of red natural color all around including eyes, lips, ears and turban. Highly collectible artifact of ancient Gandhara culture.

Height: 9.5 cm (height with a custom wooden stand 16 cm)

Condition: In good condition (Intact as fragment). Poly chrome and painted with red natural color, Covered with original ground and mineral patina. The surfaces of the face/head all have some weathering and minor flaking. (Pl. See images for more details)
